Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) October 28, 2007 -- House Bill 1804 is set to go into effect on November 1, 2007 in the state of Oklahoma. Authors of the bill intend to make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to find employment and receive public benefits, and make it illegal for citizens to transport and harbor illegal immigrants. Immigration Law Help, found online at www.immigrationlawhelp.info, is available to provide more information about this matter.
The Oklahoma bill is simply a reinforcement of federal laws, which already state that it is illegal to hire an undocumented immigrant. After November 1, 2007, businesses, companies and agencies in the state must determine the citizenship status of all employees. House Bill 1804 makes the violations a felony, punishable by a minimum of one year in prison or a $1,000 fine. This is one of the toughest immigration laws in the nation.
A Latino group in Tulsa, however, filed a temporary restraining order to keep HB 1804 from going ingot effect. The National Coalition of Latino Clergy Inc./CONLAMIC filed the lawsuit, asking for a declaration of rights and for the court to permanently prohibit the act from going into effect. A judge recently threw out the lawsuit, however, so the bill should go into affect as scheduled.
The new bill may sound complicated to some individuals, but Immigration Law Help is available to answer any questions that anyone might have.
