Currently the Australian Working Holiday Visa (http://www.migrationexpert.com/australia/visa/work_visa_australia.asp) is restricted to people between the ages of 18 - 30 years. Ms. Boyle suggests that they should be made available to people who are up to 50 years old and older.
"More often we're getting calls from clients who are looking to visit Australia and work for a period of up to a year, but who have just missed the age cut-off," says Aaron Williams, Client Services Representative at Migration Expert Australia. "The next step up is a temporary work visa which doesn't necessarily cater to what they're looking for."
In the last few years, more and more people have been drawn to taking a career break by travelling to foreign countries and working there. The age of those drawn to this type of adventure has soared, and it doesn't seem to be a trend that is about to wither away.
"Most of these people have missed the boat when they were between the ages of 18-30, yet, now that they're old enough to back themselves, they just want to test the water and stay in Australia for a short time, rather than take the plunge and commit themselves to applying for residency," explains Aaron about the calls he gets on a daily basis.

It is widely believed that more experienced, older people have proved to be much more reliable and self-disciplined than their younger counterparts.

Experts believe that the Australian economy could benefit greatly from getting more skilled workers into the country, as businesses would gain new expertise and build new bridges.
